Shelsi

Your mother and I very recently reconnected through Classmates, and it has been a very good experience for me to start to see what she has become.  She sent me a link to your website, and I just spent 1 1/2 hours learning about her very special daughter.  You are amazing and obviously full of faith, hope, and charity.  My world gets better every time another special spirit breezes into it, and you and your mom have already added a lot to my life.  I'm especially happy to learn of your recent health updates.  You definitely have a lot to celebrate and to be thankful for.  You Go, Girl!

Hello Darlin' Shel  we talk on the phone on a regular basis, but just wanted to drop you a line on your web to confirm to you our undieing love for you, and cannot express sufficiently how grateful we are to our Father in Heaven for the beautiful miricle that He brought about in your cure of this dastrous disease. We know that there were many factors in all of this along with Him, your own faith and prayers, your beautiful positive attitude, the faith and love of your wonderful husband Eric, the continued faith, prayers and support of your Dad and Mom, and siblings, as well as the hundreds of other fantastic people who joined in, some of whom none of us know personally, and of course the skilled Medical profession, doctors, nurses and science. All of this wonderful caring and support worked for you, and continues to do so.
You are a choice daughter of Heavenly Father, you have always been pure and teachable, and as we all know have been blessed accordingly.  Many, many happy days ahead, and we will see you soon sometime this summer.   All our love  Grandpa and  Grandma

I am just so happy for you Shelsi and for your loved ones too.... My husband and I have kept a Shelsi file since the beginning...I feel like, no I do love you as one of my own children and I can't wait to meet you in August...I so enjoy talking with your mother as she makes me feel good...she is a very loving and strong woman...I can see where you get strength from.  I am so happy that you are doing well, and I want to tell you that you are "ONE HOT MAMA WITH THAT DARK, LONG, STRAIGHT HAIR"...I love Eric too for his support for you, he is a great young man and his parents should be proud.  I can only hope that if my child ever had to go through what he has gone through with the love of his life, that they too would handle it as he did...with love, support, and honor to his committment!  Stay strong.

Hugs & Kisses

Wow!  I'm relieved, grateful, and amazed that you made it through that ordeal intact, in health, and in high spirits!  'Relieved' and 'grateful' are self explanatory, but why 'amazed'?!?

Because I'm a total wimp when it comes to anything related to illness and injury.  I tend to faint at the sight of blood and can send myself into a tizzy just thinking about it!

A few years ago I visited an emergency room with a severe gut ache.  Oddly enough, I can handle a great deal of pain.  Pain is not the problem, but as soon as any of the stuff that should be inside my body, starts to come out, I'm sunk.

During that ER visit, an IV was ordered.  The nurse did her best to stick the needle into a vein in my arm, but it wouldn't go.  Apparently my veins are very thick -- my aversion to bleeding likely has something to do with that.  The result was a bloody mess, and a grown man writhing around on the gurney, trying his best to not hurl, pass out, or run around the room in hysterics.

If I can't handle a simple IV, when what are my chances of enduring a bought with cancer!!!?

Thus, your journey, dear Shelsi, through what, for me, would be an intolerable nightmare, amazes me profoundly!

My dad was the same, so I suspect it's genetic ;)

BTW: the ache was not appendicitis, as I feared, but something that was cured by an infusion of Pepcid AC (the ingredient in that IV)  -- go figure!

I'm so happy that you are cancer free. You are such a good example of faith and encouragement to me.

Thanks,
Marita.
