It is about time that I sent a message to you even though we just returned from a wonderful visit with you in California, and celebrated with family and friends your miraculous recovery from this bout with Cancer. There is something profoundly astonishing that happens when we find ourselves in the midst of learning about the perfect agenda of our Heavenly Father. Certainly it is a distinct honour to be numbered among His children who are given the special trials of this life and come to know Him and feel His love in a way that could not be obtained otherwise. So very much of that love comes through the people who love you, Shelsi; all of your family there, and the dear friends from everywhere; the family members who live here and elsewhere. There are the devoted doctors and nurses and every care-giver you have come to know and love. Our prayers are for each person who has blessed your life in these long months. How grateful we, your grandparents, are for every one of them.
We went to the temple together and once again saw the eternal perspective of the family and the enduring nature of the family as our Father has designed for us. It is a joy to have that experience together.
We are praying for your quick recovery from Shingles, a miserable thing to endure, as it attacks the nerve endings from what I understand. It is not too surprising after the test of every faculty you possess. I was talking to someone who said a loved one had experienced the same thing after a bout with Cancer.
It was so wonderful to hear you sing again, to hear you sing with Kira. We had a great time at you special party and to go out for dinner with all the family members. We sure ate and ate, but that is such a great family tradition. Memories of past family get-togethers flooded over grandpa and I, and we are grateful for every one of those times.
Love to every one there, dear Shelsi.
Your Grandma, who is so glad that you are carrying on the singing. |
