Hey Everyone,

It's so weird not having serious health news to report on Shelsi. She really is doing GREAT and seems to be getting her strength back more every day. So I was looking for excuses to send out an email anyway and just thought of a good one. As many of you know she is trying to build her Avon business. Imagine being in her shoes, just having survived one of the biggest challenges that life can throw at us -- not having enough strength yet to go back to a "job" but just enough strength to do a little bit of something here and there.

She had just started selling Avon when she was diagnosed with cancer. On her website I tell a story of when she was in the Critical Care Unit at Cedars, she had just got the pre-meds before her very first Chemo treatment. The nurse was hooking up her IV to start administering the chemotherapy when Shel's phone rang. Now mind you, the pre-med drugs tend to knock you out, especially at first when your'e not used to them, and Shelsi had never taken any kind of pain killing drugs before. They had just hit her when her phone rang. I watched her as she answered her phone, and without missing a beat and ever so professionally walked the woman on the other end through how to log onto her website, which is why she had called. The women had no idea what was going on with Shelsi, or even that she was sick -- and Shel never let on, even though at that very moment she was hooked up to life saving machines, and getting toxic drugs to kill her cancer before cancer killed her. Shel ended the conversation with "Thanks so much for calling and feel free to call me back if you have any more questions."

It didn't matter what was happening in her life during this 15 month trial -- chemotherapy, brain tumors, brain surgery, chemo, feeling awful, more chemo, 25% of her life spent in the hospital, too tired to hold her head up,etc. Shel worked her Avon business every week either from home or from her hospital bed. She always sent her orders in on time and never missed a week (that I know of.) She knew that it was a way for her to help take some pressure off of Eric and help supplement their income, and it gave her something to do and look forward to. It made her so happy! (and still does)

I know that many of you already have an Avon representative, and some of you ARE Avon representatives (Kathryn:-)and she is NOT trying to take away any one's business. But if you haven't tried Avon in a while, or ever, and don't already have a rep, give Shel a try. Their products are very reasonably priced, they have a lot of different stuff to choose from, and fully returnable if you're not satisfied. The shipping is even free if you have it shipped to Shelsi and she delivers it to you if you are close by. Otherwise standard shipping rates apply. This is the link to her site or you can write her directly. www.youravon.com/sstolworthy or there's a link to her site on her website http://shelsisentinel.stlawson.com

I'm a fully healthy adult with few physical problems, and yet have difficulty motivating myself to do anything extra. I have been amazed at Shel's tenacity in trying to work this business through the worst part of her life. Imagine what she can do, when she REALLY feels good.

Thanks again everyone for your amazing love and support. You are all awesome!! We will keep you posted on when the celebration party is planned. I think she is shooting for end of summer.

Shelsi on Mother's Day 2008

Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th, 2007, she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma" -- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting the blood flow to the rest of her body. She has completed her first round of Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, but because a tumor was discovered in her brain it was necessary for her to undergo yet another round. She is now receiving radiation to the brain and if a subsequent MRI indicates she is free of cancer, she will undergo a stem-cell transplant. Her husband Eric, her parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
