I decided to try and be a little creative
so I did a power point
slideshow for this update. I hope it works for you. If you
don't have power point on your computer it might not. Steve's
working on making it a PDF file that will advance to each slide
for those who don't have power point. So if this one doesn't work
let me know and we will send it again in a different format. It's
random, in no particular order, with pictures from pre-cancer
days, pre-brain surgery days, and the recent stem cell transplant.
Hope you enjoy.
Shelsi is doing remarkably well considering
she is now 4 days post transplant, and she barely has an immune
system right now. Dr. Lill, her doctor who also was recently diagnosed
with cancer, came by to see her today and told her that she should
be able to go home a week from Monday. She was very excited about
that since the last doctor said it would be about 2 more weeks.
YEA! No more being hooked up to IV's 24 hours a day, and NO MORE
HOSPITAL FOOD.
I spent the week with her at Cedars, and
then left Friday night. As Shel noted in her blog update it was
pretty boring for her. She did have a couple of musicians come
in however, one was an amazing harpist who came to her room at
about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday night. (I think she's really an angel
and was inspired to come play for her). A beautful white Poodle
also came by to keep her company for a while one day -- you can
see her in one of the pictures. One of the week's highlights was
when Laura, one of Shel's best friends came to visit. Eric got
there Saturday morning and will be with her today and tomorrow,
then I'll be heading back on Monday. Hopefully I'll find something
to help keep her entertained this time:-)
Thank you all again for your love and
support through this challenging journey.
Peace and Blessings,
Sheri
Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and
Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th, 2007,
she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma"
-- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm
mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting
the blood flow to the rest of her body. She has completed her
first round of Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, but because
a tumor was discovered in her brain it was necessary for her to
undergo yet another round. She is now receiving radiation to the
brain and if a subsequent MRI indicates she is free of cancer,
she will undergo a stem-cell transplant. Her husband Eric, her
parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends
thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
