Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know how Shel's Pet scan turned out. We arrived at Cedars at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and the scan was started around 9:30. We met with the doctor around 12:30 and the preliminary report was already in. The doctor was very pleased. Shel and I were a little disappointed after reading the report that it didn't show her in complete remission. However, the doctor pointed out that it also didn't show that she's not. There are a couple of warm spots still showing some metabolic activity, but they are smaller than before and could just be the healing process happening from treatment rather than active cancer cells - and - there are no new spots of activity. The doctor said Shel is absolutely moving in the right direction.

By the time we got to her room Tuesday night both of us had been up for about 20 hours and were exhausted. At around midnight when the nurse finally got her hooked up to her IV's , we both quickly fell sound asleep. The next day when she got her lunch and dinner menu, she handed it to me and said, you can fill it out if you want, I'm done with hospital food. So we decided that while I was there I would eat the hospital food and get her food elsewhere. I know Eric also brings her food in from the outside. It took one meal for me to understand why she gets nauseous just looking at the menu. (No offense to the hospital kitchen staff, but please, isn't there a way to make the food more palatable? I just don't understand how you can ruin trout!:-) We figured out that she has spent over 70 days in the hospital this year. That's enough hospital food for a lifetime I'd say. Good thing she's not on a restricted diet and we can bring food in from the outside, even though that can get pretty pricey.

I've included a few more pictures of Shelsi and Eric's pre and current journey. Hope you enjoy them.

Again, thanks to all of you for your love and support - to Audrey and the IS department where I work - your gas cards helped me so much! To Susan for the beautiful box of treasures which awaited Shel and me when I returned home from Cedars Thursday night, and to all of you who are sending prayers heavenward and positive energy Shelsi's way. This has become a multifaceted journey with many participants and we are grateful to you all.

Much Love
Sheri

P.S. Update - It's Sunday, the day Shel usually gets to leave the hospital. Unfortunately they are keeping her another night because her white count is low. Needless to say she's not very happy about it. Hopefully her counts will be good tomorrow and she can get back to the comforts of home.

Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th, 2007, she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma" -- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting the blood flow to the rest of her body. She has completed her first round of Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments, but because a tumor was discovered in her brain it was necessary for her to undergo yet another round. She is now receiving radiation to the brain and if a subsequent MRI indicates she is free of cancer, she will undergo a stem-cell transplant. Her husband Eric, her parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
