Sheri is at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with Shel (and thus is away from her computer, so this is Steve, bringing you up-to-date with as much as I know)...

Shelsi is being prepped for brain surgery, which is scheduled for sometime tomorrow. A couple of weeks previous she began suffering from neck pain that waxed and waned and grew progressively worse with each cycle. About three days ago, nausea was added which soon lead to vomiting.

Sheri finally convinced her to visit a doctor. Yesterday Shelsi received the results of a scan of her brain -- all I know is that it didn't look good.

Because of a drug she's been taking to thin her blood (having something to do with treating her previous condition), they have to thicken her blood before they can operate, which is done by giving her plasma transfusions. They are hoping she will be ready by tomorrow morning. Apparently, if they wait much longer, it will be too late to do anything.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information regarding what they found in her head, but the medical staff in attendance were amazed that her symptoms were not more numerous or more extreme (though incessant dry heaves and pain so sever that it causes uncontrollable shaking, sounds pretty severe to me).

Sheri is taking it all remarkably well considering. She's spending the night at the hospital and in our last conversation she said that Shelsi was in good spirits and they were all laughing and joking.

Thank you for your prayers -- and let's hope that Shelsi comes out of this with her health fully restored and that she lives a long happy life.

Steve

Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th, 2007, she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma" -- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting the blood flow to the rest of her body. She has completed her Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments. All indications are that she is doing much better and is well on the way to full recovery. Her husband Eric, her parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
