Hi Everyone,

Well here's something I'll bet will shock you - Shelsi got a tatoo today! Okay - not the kind you may think. I guess it's three tiny tatooed dots on her chest in preparation for her radiation. That sure makes reality sink in a little more. She goes on Thursday for a CT scan, and then radiation will begin in about two weeks and continue every day for a month.

With the money we've raised from the fundraiser so far we were able to purchase the Vita-Mix juicer and a months supply of healing herbs and supplements for Shelsi, with enough left over to probably cover another month of super healthy eating. THANK YOU so much for your donations which made this possible. You know what it's like when you go to the store and funds are tight so you always look for the cheapest brand or what's on sale, rather than what's on the label? Well, that's what I always did. But trying to help Shelsi recover from cancer and the toxic effects of chemotherapy treatment, has made me re-think nutrition (not that that's was caused it of course). The less ingredients on the label, the more healthy and pure the product, and also the more expensive it is. Why is that? You would think if they didn't have to put all the additives in things, they wouldn't cost as much. But I guess the cost of selling things with a shorter shelf life due to no perservatives, or chemicals is more expensive. And I know growing organic is more costly as well. So, in my opinion, it's so worth it for the added health benefits to help reverse the toxic effects of chemotherapy on Shels' liver.

The kids in New York did another fundraiser last Saturday and raised another $300.00 - half of which will go to Shelsi. I can't say enough about these kids!!!

Shel's still in good spirits, and seems to be feeling better since taking the supplements and using the juicer. I will be heading that way to spend two weeks with her starting next Tuesday to see if I can help her out in adjusting to this new nutritional regimin. It's not easy eating healthy - it's not only more expensive - it takes a lot of energy in preparation, so this will be good for both of us. I am really looking forward to just spending some quality time with her without having to worry about rushing back to work the next day. (Thanks boss for understanding.)

Steve's considering lowering the target point of the fundraiser, cause he really wants to cut his hair. And since donations seem to have come to a screeching halt - it's going to be long time before we reach $5000.00. We didn't get any bites from the media either. I thought sure the funny flyer would get at least a nibble;-( However, I understand so well how tight funds are for everyone right now - we all have challenges to deal with. So stay tuned to find out what the new fundraising target will be. To date we have raised about $2, 350.00 - half of which goes to Shelsi and half to Laynes Legacy Foundation, which they so deserve.

Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma" -- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting the blood flow to the rest of her body. She has completed her Chemotherapy treatments and will soon begin Radiation. All indications are that she is doing much better and is well on the way to full recovery. Her husband Eric, her parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
