[Saturday, February 24, 2007] I’m writing a quick update since a lot has happened since Shel began Chemo on Wednesday. I left the hospital yesterday earlier than I’d wanted to because I had a sore throat coming on. Today I’m in bed with the flu. However, I wanted to share some new information.

Shelsi tolerated her 2nd round of Chemo really well – no nausea, headaches or body aches like last time. But her heart kept waking her up with palpitations all night. Not being in a monitored room she had to call the nurse each time it happened.

By 2:00 Thursday afternoon they had her moved to a monitored floor in the cardiac unit. Shortly after settling in to her new room they did a 3 dimensional echo of her heart. Amazingly, even though they weren’t specifically looking for it - they were trying to make sure the PIC line was still where it should be - the mass was difficult to find. When the other echoes were done the mass was impossible to miss – so that is good news.

Eric called this morning, however, to say that she had a pretty ruff night with her heart racing and then dropping intermittently and the nurses were pretty concerned. So they’ve decided to move her back into CCU again to keep her more closely monitored. They will be moving her as soon as a bed becomes available.

When Eric gets access to the Internet today he will send some new pix to me of Shel with her new “buzz” cut to post on the site. I haven’t seen her yet, but I’m sure she has a much cuter head than Brittany :)

Love and thanks again to all of you.

And NOT just because Brittany did it ;)

Shelsi is the daughter of Sheri and Ric Hancock, and the wife of Eric Stolworthy. On Jan 25th she was diagnosed with "Diffused Large B-cell lymphoma" -- in other words, Cancer. It manifested as an 14 cm mass in her chest that was pushing on her heart and constricting the blood flow to the rest of her body. Now she is out of Intensive Care but is still undergoing Chemotherapy treatments. Her husband Eric, her parents Ric & Sheri and all the rest of her family and friends thank you dearly for all your prayers and support!
