[Thursday, February 10, 2007] GREAT NEWS! Shelsi is feeling much better today. She got a good night’s rest and her alarms only went off once (that she and Eric can remember.) The pressure in her chest is diminishing so she is able to breath better and can almost lay flat to sleep, (which she hasn’t been able to do for a few months.) This means the tumor is shrinking and not putting so much pressure on her lung and airway. Our prayers are working! She has also had some interesting visitors. A dog named Reily came by and his master got a picture of him with Shelsi. As soon as we can scan it we will post it to the website –it’s an adorable shot! A traveling harpist also came by and played some beautiful music. The actress, Mare Winningham [of "Brat Pack" fame] who volunteers at the hospital, came by and played her guitar and serenaded Shelsi. The hospital Social Worker, Stephnie, is trying to arrange for Shelsi and Kira to do a concert of their own on the floor for the staff and patients. Now that Shel is breathing better that should happen very soon. When it does, we will get pictures and post them to the site as well. The staff at the hospital all love Shelsi - they fight over who gets to take care of her :) She’s a bright shining light for everyone. We are so grateful for all of your love and support at this time. It’s making a difference! Shelsi is currently at Cedars Sinai Medical Center at Los Angeles, in the Saperstein Critical Care Unit room 5S62 [during some of the treatments they don't allow visitors, so it's probably wise to call first] -- see Map or Directions --Sheri
