Hi All,
[Friday, Feburary 6, 2007]
Shelsi is still at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills
in the Saperstein Critical Care Unit room 5S62,
and as of this writing, she is undergoing a PET scan.
Hopefully this will finally resolve the question
of whether or not the uninvited mass has penetrated her heart. This
is critical as it will make the difference between "simple"
chemo therapy and the need to precede it with surgery.
If the "thing" has grown through the heart
wall or into any of the major veins or arteries, and the chemo therapy
successfully melts it away, it could leave a hole where it once
was. Such a thing would likely be lethal, because holes cause leaks,
and leaks are not something you want in places like that. So, the
doctors are taking great care to make absolutely sure that dear
Shelsi survives the "cure".
At this point the word is that Shelsi is in the
clear and that the PET scan is just a "formality", and
that she will start chemo tomorrow.
Shelsi is still as cheerful and bright as ever which has been a blessing for everyone around her.
Sheri, her mother, reported that she feels a lot more "optimistic" at this point.
